Off the lip

This is an older sculpture that I thought everyone might like to see. The board is mahogany w/ a maple stringer and has a laminated fin of maple and mahogany. The surfer is riding a driftwood wave.
I will make custom orders of this sculpture. The price for a custom sculpture starts at $150. Contact me by email if interested... info@JKSurfArt.com

The Joker Dashboard Rider

SOLD
This dashboard rider has a bump hip like a Jacobs 422, square nose of the G&S Stretch, and the huge concave of the Bing Nuuhiwa Noserider. The board is red oak and bloodwood w/ a mahogany base. The concave is carved super deep, but I can't seem to get a good picture of it.
This is a model making light of the never ending barrage of square nose models I keep seeing in shops form different shapers, ie- the Tyler Riddler, Bing Is Is, The Channin Square, P Arrow Olsen Square.
Not that all of the boards don't work well. But just give me an old G&S Stretch and I'll be happy.

Rocky Point mini sculpture

"Rocky Point" is a small wire sculpture on a jetty rock that I finished today. The board is American Cherry w/ a Maple stringer & yellow heart fin. It measures approx 5"H x 4"W x 6"Deep.

SOLD

The TV-Book shelf ...

I've been working on this "Entertainment center" since this winter and am finally done. After Chi Chi's passing and Keegan's birth this was the 3rd most important thing I had going this past winter(-:spring,summer:-). She is finally finished. An approx 7' x 5' mahogany, yellow heart, brazilian cherry, black walnut, maple, ash, and blood wood "entertainment center" for a wall mounted flatscreen TV. The side boards are mahogany and y heart w/ maple figure 8 stringers inspired for an old Greg Noll I have. The fin on the top of the book shelf is ash, black walnut, & blood wood inspired by my friend Pat's old Weber pig fin. This has been one of my favorite jobs so far, and I look forward to designing & making more exotic wood sculptures like this in the future. Here are some pics of it in progress and finished...

Wall hanging surfboard painting

A client came into the surf shop a few weeks back looking for a board to hang on her daughters wall. Not being one to turn down money, I did a painting on a cheep used board for them. Caleen wanted hibiscus flowers w/ a aqua and purple background, so this is how it came out.

Idling Flyer for Surfrider Foundation

KD asked lately if I wouldn't mind helping on small project for South Jersey Surfrider Foundation. It was for a business card sized flyer to ask people to turn off their cars when checking the surf. I (of course) agreed, and this is what I came up with.

I've finally finished a wall sculpture for Jim Hyde (aka- Richard Tator). Jimmy has been a great inspiration to me throughout the years. We made the first dashboard riders together in 2000, and I have been working w/ him and feeding off him for inspiration ever since. Jim helped me out huge when I bought my new house, so this is my thank you to him.
This is a 2' wire man on a board made from Zebra Wood, Black Walnut, and Yellow Heart, mounted on driftwood.

To my best buddy Chi Chi/I'll miss you Buddy

You were always there for me, and always crazy enough for me to deny you were mine. You were the best dog a guy could ask for, even though you were an absolute freak. Me and your mom will always love you and consider you our very first baby. You were the best ball dog ever. You will be missed greatly.

For those of you that don't know, our dog of 10 years passed today and he will be very missed.
